A new MacBook Air with Retina display has been rumored to see a release date in June of 2014. While there are definitely some new works for the Apple MacBook lines, an expert from KGI Securities predicts that a 12-inch MacBook is likely in the works as well.
If anyone has been paying attention, Apple has been noticiably clearing the shelf for some new products. In the fall of 2013, Apple announced that they will end production of the 15-inch MacBooks. A report from DigiTimes also predicts that the 13-inch model will also soon be discontinued in favor of having only Retina Display MacBook options.
So far, the MacBook Air is one of the few Apple products that do not have an HD or Retina Display model.
According to a report from the International Business Times, the MacBook Air with Retina Display has been given a release date of late June, most likely during the WWDC conference where Apple usually unveils new products.
Other sources suggest Apple's unveiling will also involve a thinner design and even lighter weight MacBook.
Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities predicts that Apple will work on a 12-inch MacBook. He claims Apple might modify the current line to include the "ultra-slim clamshell form factor." The 12-inch MacBook Pro would be similar to the MacBook Air with an Intel processor and no disk drive.
Rumor has it that due to a recent Apple patent filing, solar charging panels may be in the near future of MacBook charging systems. Instead of only plugging into an electric source, users could change their computers by solar power.
